Not only the educated women who are contributing to the economy of the country but also the women with little or no education are coming out from their cocoons to work and contribute to the society. The holding of the office of the prime minister by women for five consecutive times proves that the role of women in Bangladesh is very important. Now they are not only running state affairs but also representing public opinions at the parliament. They are also holding a key position in the national activities and even getting involved in armed forces. It is unfortunate that in the past the activities of women in the family were not appreciated at all. Rather, they were neglected. They were confined in household activities and rearing up children. In our male-dominated society, it was thought that women were born to do household chores and to obey their husband. But the situation is changed now. They are working together with men, increasing their family income, and becoming self-reliant.
